STUDENT LED LEARNING WALK 2018-19
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2018, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
 (SEE SCHEDULE BELOW)

FAMILIES OF ERIC HARVIE STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND OUR FIRST STUDENT-LED LEARNING WALK OF THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR  - ALSO A CELEBRATION OF OUR ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE DANCE EXPERIENCE WITH SOUND KREATIONS JJ

Student-Led Learning Walks offer you and your child(ren) an opportunity to glimpse a snapshot of what “Physical Literacy ” looks like at every grade level across Eric Harvie School with your child’s celebration of the Sound Kreations dance residency presented as an artefact of physical literacy learning.

Building the learning tools and strategies in our students’ Learners’ Toolkits is the primary work of the school in language literacy, math literacy, science, social studies, physical literacy, place-based literacy, and both critical and creative thinking to support students in exploring, creating, investigating, questioning and designing inquiries, wonders and projects  grounded in curricular objectives.

We invite you to come with your child to celebrate our two-week, Parent Council-sponsored dance residency with Sound Kreations JJ and peruse our Documentation Boards from each Pod, showcasing how we integrate physical literacy into our daily learning across the curricula.

Please attend according to the schedule below – parents and students will enter through the front doors of the school starting 20 minutes before your scheduled performance. Students will go directly to the gym while parents are invited to check out our Documentation Boards in the Hub. Once the performances for each Pod are finished, families will exit through the gym doors onto the compound, thereby ensuring incoming families will have access to the Documentation Boards in the Hub as well.

Today in the Joy Pod we continued to work on reading and writing.  We also started to look at human impact on Coyotes as we get ready to go to Glenbow Ranch next week. Ask your child about the video we watched of a coyote in Nose Hill Park.  We worked with a group to record what we Need to know about Coyotes, What we were excited about, where we stand on the issue and any suggestions we have and what we are worried about when we think about coyotes.  It was a great discussion and brainstorming session.
