Tomorrow is our whole school field trip to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. For parents who are volunteering on this day, please go to the office to sign an Acknowledgment of Risk form.
Please make sure your child is prepared for the day:
- Dressed appropriately
(coat, sturdy shoes, sunglasses, hat, layered clothing as it will be cool in the morning and may warm up by the afternoon)
- Backpack with extra clothing, full water bottle, nutritious snack and lunch, any medication (episode-pen, inhaler)
- Leave all electronics and toys at home
We will be leaving by 8:45 (please be on time to school)
Please return permission forms if you have not yet done so. We require permission to take students off site. As well, if you have not done so the cost for this field trip is $7 which covers the cost of the bus.

Joy Pod is looking for plastic bottle cap lids (brown, white/clear, yellow, orange, green, red, blue and black) to use in a recyclable art project. These lids can be found on pop bottles, milk jugs and other drinks. We are also looking for a LARGE cardboard box. Please think of us when recycling these lids...we need a TON!!!

Ways to Help Your Child with Reading at Home
Before you read:
-Make reading a part of your daily routine
-Find a cozy place to read together
-Have your child choose a book that interests them
-Talk about the book, read the title, look and talk about the pictures
Reading together:
-Hold the book so both of you can see the words and pictures
-Point to each word as you read
-Take turns reading, gradually letting your child read more as they become confident
-Stop occasionally and talk about what you are reading, how the characters might feel, what do you think might happen next and discuss new vocabulary
-Read and reread your child's favorites
Next Week:
What to do when your child comes to a word they don't know...we will share some helpful strategies (hint hint one of the strategies is NOT to cover pictures in a story. Children need those pictures to support their reading and understanding)
