JOY POD

Today was the 100th Day of school!  We just love to see all of the 100 Day t-shirts.  Thank you to all parents and students for adding the fun to our day.  

Big Box of Cards Fundraiser: 
School Council sent home with your child a sample box of cards. The box contains 33 gorgeous "All Occasion" greeting cards for $33! Each box purchased will generate $11 in profits for our school.  Order forms and fundraising information is included in the bag with the box of cards. Please have all order forms returned to the school by Thursday, February 28th. Further questions or concerns about this program can be forwarded to Amanda Hang

Tomorrow is our Winter Sports Day: Please have your child dress appropriately for being outside! Our annual Winter Sports Day will take place in the afternoon 12:20 to the end of the School day.   We still have space for volunteers to join us.  See below for a link to sign up.  Thank you.

JOY POD ***Hold on to your hats...we are heading into a busy next couple of months and looking forward to all the fun to be had!

Valentine's Day:
On Wednesday, February 13, Joy Pod students are encouraged to bring in personalized Valentine cards to hand out in their responsibility classes.  We ask that if students are bringing Valentine cards that they bring enough Valentine cards for all students in the classroom.  If your child plans to make their own Valentine cards and you are in need of supplies, please let your responsibility teacher know as we want to make sure that all children have access to bringing in Valentine cards.

All students will be participating in an Open Minds learning opportunity in one of the following locations, Glenbow Museum, Telus Spark Science Centre or VIVO.  We will need at least 6 parent volunteers for everyday of each of these weeks.

Joy Pod

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who made Joy Pod Swimming such a success!






 Each of the rooms in Joy Pod had a discussion today about friendship and relationships.  We are finding that there have been some friendship fires happening within the Pod. "I can't be friends with you if you are friends with them" type of conversations.  We are also having some thoughts that boy/girl relationships are boyfriend/girlfriend relationships.  We discussed how we are too young for those and that we can all be "just friends."  
Another part of our conversation is that the word "No thank you"  or "No I don't like that" in regard to things like hugs, rough play, etc. means "I would like it to stop." We are trying to encourage our friends to share when something does not feel right.  We also talked about that it is okay to say "no" and that others should respect that as an answer.  
If you would like to continue this conversation with your child we would encourage you to do so.
