Our "JOY" Day in Review:

What is Daily Five? The Daily Five is a literacy structure that allows for differentiation in the classroom.  There are five literacy tasks that teaches students independence and focuses on literacy.
5 Tasks of the Daily Five
1. Read to Self
2. Read to Someone
3. Work on Writing
4. Listen to Reading
5. Word Work
This week we have been working with students on "Read to Self" and "Read to Someone." Stay tuned as we move onto "Work on Writing" next week.  This literacy structure is designed to engage our students in both reading and writing.

Our Grade 1/2 Big Inquiry Question:

We are so lucky to have the Coulee near Eric Harvie School and so we hope to visit this special place as often as we can.  Our first big inquiry question driving our visits to the Coulee is
"How do we impact the animals in the coulee?" and "How do we know that animals have been here?"  Students today brainstormed and shared the animals that they have seen in the community of Tuscany and what animals they think live in the Coulee.  If you have never visited the Coulee, please take a stroll in the Coulee when you get sometime and enjoy the nature that is in our backyard.
