Today in the Joy Pod students worked the whole day in their inquiry group.  This allowed us to focus a number of different things.  We worked on reading and writing, math which included 2d Shapes and 3d Objects and of course our puppets.  Two of the Four groups have finished working on building our puppets and learning how to manipulate it.  The other two groups will have a chance to finish up tomorrow.

‘RIGHT TO PLAY’ ACTIVITY DAYS & TWONIE FUNDRAISER THIS WEEK! PEACE AMBASSADORS PROJECT
Back in January our Grade 4 Peace Ambassadors took part in a Right to Play workshop with an Olympic Athlete from the Right to Play organization. Our young leaders learned how to bring about positive change through play. These games were designed to teach young people around the world about global citizenship, human rights and the importance of play to health and well being. This week, our Peace Ambassadors will be teaching some of these games during our Physical Education time, with the support of Mr. Der and their teachers. They are very excited to share what they have learned! As well, they are working toward a fundraising goal of $900.00 in order to support Right to Play for other students in countries around the globe!
If each Eric Harvie Student were to bring in a toonie this week, we could easily reach that goal! Please consider supporting this valuable experience by sending a toonie in to school with your child any day this week!

The Peace Ambassadors will collect the donations each morning. For more information, please visit Right to Play Website

Students had an opportunity today to work with Ms. Wendy on their puppets.  Thank you to the parent volunteers who have helped us out with this.  Please mark your calendars from 6:15-7:30pm on May 23, 2019 when we will be sharing all of our learning around this worthy project

**************************************************************
In math, our Joy Pod Mathematicians have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes.  Many of the students have shared the book, The Greedy Triangle  by Marilyn Burns.  It is a great story that gets us thinking about the many polygons.  Take a few minutes to share the video with your child and discuss polygons that we have in our homes.

Right to Play Project

The Eric Harvie Peace Ambassadors spent an afternoon learning about play with and ambassador from he Right to Play Organization. This organization works with children around the world in some of the most challenging countries that have been plagued by violence, child labour, illiteracy and inequality. Our EHS Peace Ambassadors will be working with all of our students in Phys. Ed during the week of May 13 - 16.
To give back to the Right to Play organization for spending time with our peace ambassadors so the they can teach all of us about safe and respectful play we would like to make a donation to the Right to Play Organization to continue to do their work across the world.
We are asking all students to make a donation of a toonie on Monday.

Today was the Peace Pod Peace Assembly.  The students shared their learning of Seven Sacred Teachings.  Here are some images from the work that they shared.

MONDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO ORDER
Eric Harvie School Spring Fundraiser 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This spring we are selling beautiful, locally grown flowers, and plants to help raise money for our programs. Fundraising is always a vital part of ensuring the students have the best year possible. The money raised is used to help cover costs for programs, equipment, resources, and extra-curricular activities. It also takes some of the financial burden off the parents – allowing more kids to participate in activities, such as Artists in Residence (WP Puppeteers) and school special events (including our Film Festival in June).
Important Notes:
  • Please ensure customers makes cheques payable to : Eric Harvie School
  • Our team website (to place online orders and view plants in color) is located at:   https://ericharvie.growingsmilesfundraising.com/home
  • Please try to sell only to your family, friends and close neighbours. (Parents may take order forms to work to collect sales if desired).
  • We do not encourage young students soliciting door-to-door sales for safety reasons.
  • Plants are supplied by DeVry Greenhouses
By purchasing a beautiful plant(s) this spring, not only will you be spreading summer cheer, you will also be supporting an amazing cause! Notices will sent home today Thursday, April 18/19 or April 23/19 and must be returned no later than Monday, May 13/19. All plants ordered will be available for pick up at Eric Harvie School on May 30 and 31/19 at the office between 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
We hope that you will see something you like and help support our cause. We couldn't do it without you!
Any questions or concerns, please contact Eric Harvie office at 403-817-3532 or moshabbir@cbe.ab.ca
