Happy Weekend Everyone!
Another busy day inJoy Pod.
Vivo Group finished their Open Minds Experience.
We had our third of four Wonder Times.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Family BBQ last night.  The kids kept the bouncy castles on the ground in the crazy winds.  The food trucks were great.
Thank you to Parent Council for hosting such a wonderful event.

Twin Valley Farms Field Trip June 2019
We are very excited to provide the opportunity for the current classes of Grade 1/2 students to participate in the Twin Valley Farms Field Trip experience this June! This is a very special experience that takes place at Twin Valley Farms, a very large ranch just southeast of Nanton, AB, offering students an up-close-and-personal experience learning how food is grown and raised in the province of Alberta.

Twin Valley Farms offers students opportunities to see farm equipment up close and in action, live animals (mostly spring babies), seeding plans, learn how drones are used on the farm, how grain is made into flour and observe a giant-sized water irrigation system actually working – sometimes even a crop dusting plane will fly by just to ‘wave’ at the students.

The Joy Pod will be going to Twin Valley Farm for a field trip on Wednesday, June 19th.  We will be traveling by coach bus and will return to the school between 4:00-4:30pm.

VIVO Inquiry Group Only

VIVO inquiry group kids ARE GOING SWIMMING TOMORROW (Friday, June 14th)!!
To help children, please send your child to school with their swim suit on underneath their clothing.  It would be helpful if they use washroom before putting on their swim suit. Please make sure your child is wearing loose-fitting clothes he/she can easily change into afterwards (i.e. track suit/sweatshirt/jogging pants).  Please pack snacks that can be easily eaten in about 5 minutes! Long hair must be tied back. You do not have to send shampoo, body wash, or conditioner as we will only quickly rinse after swimming.
In swim bag, please pack:
  • A towel
  • Underwear
  • Plastic bag for a wet bathing suit/towel (optional)
  • Hairbrush (if needed) that your child is able to use independently
  • Goggles (optional)
  • Swimming cap (optional)
Thank you!

Open Minds Experience-VIVO Inquiry Group

Day 1

We visited the Play Lab, where children aged 2 to 5 years old come to play while their parents work out. We observed how some children played at the Play Lab and interviewed them about what they would like to play with at the Play Lab.
Then, we discussed how we would like to re-design the Play Lab by bringing things the Play Lab kids want. We made a plan of how we would re-design the Play Lab.

Day 2
We built and made things that we will put into the Play Lab. We will install these items in the Play Lab on Thursday.

In the afternoon, we went outside to play with loose parts. We also made some games that we will play with kids from the Play Lab.

Day 3

We briefly visited the Calgary Public Library that is inside VIVO.
Anya and Victoria from National Sports School came to visit us. They shared how long they have been horseback riding, what they do to stay healthy with their busy schedules, where they have been to train and compete, what their days look like, etc.
We played in the VIVO gym.
We made nutritious snacks using oats, honey, Wowbutter (peanut free), cocoa powder, chocolate chips, coconut shreds, and dried fruits. We tried some and we will serve the rest tomorrow (Thursday) to different people who will come to celebrate VIVO's last year of running the Healthy Living School program. The Healthy Living School program will be run by Shane Homes YMCA, starting in the 2020-2021 school year.
We also made some smoothies.
