Joy Pod

Inquiry: Joy Pod's Open House is tomorrow! We look forward to explore 'play' with you!   

For parents who are unable to attend on Friday there may be parts of the work available to share at conferences next week.  


TIME CHANGE FOR THE OPEN HOUSE
This Friday, March 15th from 10:15-11:45 A.M. you are invited to The Joy of Play” – Open House where we will be showcasing our work around “play.”
(This is in place of a traditional Peace Assembly as this format is a better format to showcase our learning)
Our “play” learning will be displayed in the Hub and the Thunder Dome (gymnasium).  Students in Joy Pod will be positioned near their inquiry focus.  Our students have been focusing on our essential question, “How Does Play Connect Us?” through a healthy living lens, a museum lens and a science/design thinking lens.
Please RSVP your child’s responsibility teacher if you will be attending.

We hope you will join us for our celebration of learning!

The spring Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held Thursday and Friday, March 21/22, 2019. Registration for conferences will open at 7:00 am March 16, 2019, through CBE School Messenger, for all students from Kindergarten – Grade 4.
Students will be bringing home notices on Friday, March 15th, indicating the names of the Pod teacher(s) who are currently most connected to students for math and literacy (reading). Families will book conferences with the indicated teacher(s) in order to ensure they are appropriately connected to their child’s literacy and math learning. Part of the Conference experience will also provide families with the opportunity to explore the learning that has been happening within the Pod with your child as the leader. Families will also be able to informally connect with other Pod teachers when they are available.

One day closer to the open house:  
Inquiry: Students have been working hard to finish up their work to share with Joy Pod parents and Eric Harvie students for Friday. We are very excited.   Our Pod has been a busy place with lots of building, creating art, conversation and collaboration.   We look forward to seeing all of our friends and family! Come ready to play with us!

Thank you to all of the Student Teachers at EHS who organized this week's Read A Thon.  It was a huge success!  All of the students truly enjoyed sharing their LOVE of reading.  Please send back to school any pledges and forms that you may have.  The FINAL date to return forms and monies is MARCH 18

It was a great Wonder Time Day.  Ask your child about what they chose to do during Wonder Time.  What did you notice as you were working?  What did you learn that you may not have known before?  What were you most proud of today?  What will you choose to do next time?

Wonder Time: Outdoor Exploration (Tomorrow)
Students who are dressed appropriately for Winter Weather will be given the opportunity to go on a community walk during this Friday's Wonder Time.  If you do not wish your child to join us on the walk for any reason (e.g. if they will need to be signed out early) , please ensure that your child is aware of this, as their responsibility teacher will likely not be accompanying them on the walk.
